My name is Jennifer Scherlizin and I've been a certified yoga and Pilates based trainer for around 8 years. And then I was introduced to yoga. Yoga is where my journey to health really began. A big piece of the puzzle was solved as I started to address the root of the problem, instead of the symptoms. Tension was a big issue. Massive quantities of bodily tension. I discovered I was BARELY BREATHING MOST OF THE TIME!! Take one nice deep breath right now, releasing the exhale slowly. Doesn't breathing feel nice?? (: I thought so too. Because of some severe personal situations in my life, I'd been struggling to hold myself together and breathing seemed counterproductive. Yoga gave me the gift of breath and awareness of my thoughts, aside from the usual strength and flexibility.

Now at this point, my weight wasn't an issue (YET). I was one of those skinny bitches that can eat huge sums of food and never gain weight. I was super thin, but I wasn't enjoying life.

Since yoga was doing wonders for me, I decided I wanted to be able to share it with others, so I enrolled in certification. When I heard of Pilates, I checked that out, and got certified to teach that as well. It's given me a more well-rounded training style. However, I still wouldn't refer to myself as healthy at this point. My pilates instructor bluntly said, "You are the fattest skinny person I've ever seen!" Yeah, he was a real charmer!

As I started training myself and clients, other health issues come up. I started researching more and more about food, nutrition, and many other health topics. I've got quite a base of knowledge by now. So, while I don't have a PhD from a leading university, I have invested years in study and real-world experience.

Diet vs Exercise- What's the answer?
