The Best Exercise for Weight Loss
It’s always interesting when I’m approached and asked to pin down the best exercise for weight loss. A single exercise, the one that will help lose fat fast or sculpt the quickest. I’m slow to answer. For one thing, every body is different. What may work best for one client, well, quite frankly, you may not even be able to do yet. Hence my reluctance to label one exercise as the almighty best. However, there are some exercises that are better than others. Yes, I’d even label a few as the best. The best exercises geared toward weight loss must be a complex movement, as I’m assuming you are not a millionaire celebrity who can train 3 hours a day. I’m thinking you are looking for something more along the lines of quick results in minimal time. Simple movements burn fewer calories than complex movements. Seems like common sense, yes? The overall goal of building muscle will certainly be achieved faster if you can work many muscles within a single exercise. That’s why I love yoga and Pilates. Well, that’s just one reason, but efficiency is nice. Here’s the thing that most people probably wouldn’t tell you: It doesn’t matter WHAT the exercise is, if you aren’t gonna do it. And I mean consistently and with progression. That’s really the all important factor. The best exercise for weight loss is one that you will actually freakin’ do!
