Green Tea Weight Loss : Fact or Fiction?

The green tea weight loss connection has been around for a long time. Tons of studies have been done at this point, and while the results are interesting, I am not going to reiterate all the findings and details. You just want to know if it’s true, right?

My findings (you like how I made it sound as if I donned my lab coat and conducted many scientific experiments?) conclude that it is. Numerous benefits result from consuming green tea. Now I am not ever a fan of the many attempts by modern society to extract bits and pieces of substances and place it in an easy-to-pop pill form. I suspect that benefits are greatly reduced at least. So, if you are going to jump on the bandwagon, I suggest you do the real thing. Nice hot green tea for weight loss should be consumed 3-6 times a day.

The benefits seem to be varied and multi-dimensional, too. It’s not just about stimulating metabolism, which is one listed benefit. There are also actual fat-burning properties. Not only that, but it’s been discovered that green tea somehow blocks the actions that synthesize and store fat. Green tea has even been found to assist in blood sugar regulation which helps with cravings. I believe I read the same thing about cinnamon recently.

Now this is not to say, of course, that by following a green tea weight loss regimen you suddenly have free reign on what you eat. You still need a balanced healthy diet. You can’t ditch exercise for a cup of tea, either. You unfortunately still need fat burning workouts, too. You simply can’t become a green tea sucking slug.
